Shreyas is the official social development organization of the Malankara Catholic Diocese of Bathery to uplift the poor and marginalized. It is one of the leading NGOs working in South India for the development of Marginal Farmers, Tribal, Women, Children and Senior Citizen. It was started in the year 1979 and got registered in 1986 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The program area of Shreyas spread over 15 civil districts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The whole operational area is divided into 10 Regions consisting of 100 Units for effective management and active participation. Shreyas has a secular approach right from the very beginning because we believe that human beings, irrespective of religion, have the right to lead a decent life. Though the catholic population of the diocese is small, Shreyas could address the need of a large population. At present 2858 Self Help Groups are catering the needs of 46646 poor and marginalized families.
