Community Based Rehabilitation
CBR is a systematized approach for rehabilitating the physically and mentally challenged persons, which is implemented through the combined efforts of disabled people themselves, their families and communities. It facilitates appropriate health, education, vocational and social services to the differently abled community

With a view of ensuring equal opportunity and prevent segregation against the Person with Disabilities (PWDs) Shreyas has been facilitating the CBR programme in Sulthan Bathery and Nenmeni Panchayaths since 2004 by the support of CBR Forum, Bangalore. Through the social model of CBR programme Shreyas aims the integrated development of PWDs by applying the rights based approach. We give special focus to  Education, Health, Livelihood, Network and Collaboration  for the welfare and healthy existence of the disabled community.


Objectives

  1. To identify the PWDs and analyze their personal, family and social status

  2. To enable the disabled community to realize their legal rights, provisions and fight for protecting the same.

  3. To provide health, educational, economical and livelihood opportunities for PWDs through networking and collaboration.  

  4. To capacitate the PWDs to take over the CBR programme by themselves through the federation

  5. To sensitize and create awareness to the local community regarding PWDs rights, needs, facilities and preventing the disability.

  • Awareness and sensitization programme
  • Disability Prevention campaign Anganwadi, PHC and CHC 
  • Formation of CBOs exclusively for PWDs and integration in the existing CBOs
  • Counseling and stress management 
  • Leadership and capacity building training
  • Vocational training and support for the Income Generation Activities
  • Monthly Field level planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • To prepare Individual Rehabilitation Plan for the PWDs
  • Training to the  Parents association
  • Special training and education to the parents of Severely disabled, CP and Multiple disability 
  • Workshop for the women with Disabilities
  • Integrate the children with disabilities(CWDs) into the Anganwadi and Pre/Primary school  
  • Summer camp to the CWDs
  • Home based education to the severely disabled
  • Facilitation of Medical Certificate, Identity Card, Monthly Pension, Bus pass etc
  • Annual get together and day celebrations
